My Favorite Pink, Beautiful Scarf for Summer and Winter

posted on 13 February 2012

I have this beautiful, pink scarf that I love wearing in the summer and the winter. It is pink so it really stands out and brightens up an otherwise dull black or white outfit. It goes with a lot of stuff too. It is cloth and feels really smooth to the touch. It is one of my must have items that I need. I get so many compliments when I wear it to work. I just got a compliment last week when I wore it to the grocery store. I wear it on the cooler days of summer to keep the sun off of me, and the cool days of winter to keep me warm. I love it so much I got it probably about five years ago at a thrift store and fell in love with it. Scarves are a great item to really brighten up an outfit. This is one item that I cannot go without.

Winter Fashion Needn't Be Frumpy

posted on 23 January 2012

I have to say that during the winter season, your fashion sense doesn't need to hide under all those layers. My favorite part about winter is the coats that we females to wear. I really like the parka look with fur around the hood - the sleeves are short enough to show off your bangles and bracelets. I find that it keeps me the warmest and also goes with almost anything I wear. My second favorite thing in the winter is boots. I love boots that are high but still have lots of tracking on the bottom of the boot. There is many different style of boot but I tend to stick to one kind. That is the one that come just below the knee and look like a moccasin. They keep your shins nice and toasty while you look fabulous. Wearing these boots and coats, you are sure to be warm while still looking very fashionable. I think that just because it freezing cold out, doesn't mean that you have to give up your sense of fashion. I love being able to look great while staying warm.

Make Plants Part of Your Gift Buying Ideas

posted on 7 January 2012

Plants are one of the best solutions for coming up with gift buying ideas that can please a wide range of people on a small budget. I use them all the time for housewarming, thank you, get well and hostess gifts. They also work well for non-occasion presents. If I know the recipient I’ll try to pick something meaningful for them like herbs for someone who likes to cook or a cactus for someone who grew up in the southwest. If I’m not that familiar with the recipient’s tastes, I look for something attractive and easy to maintain. For larger purchases I stick with nurseries where I know the plants are well cared for rather than going to supermarkets or big box stores. Sometimes I even add a more personal touch and spend nothing by dividing one of my own Peace Lilies that’s grown big enough to split. Plants are a healthy and long lasting gift that many people appreciate. Another idea is bespoke jewellery. I make jewellery gifts with my jewellery tools - people love getting unique gifts.

My Two Favorite Often-Overlooked Accessories

posted on 23 November 2011

I can't help but think us guys don't get as much enjoyment out of fashion as women do. My girlfriend is always going on about her Annie Haak bracelets and her dresses and her shoes - when you listen to her, it sounds like a real art just getting dressed in the morning! At the same time, it's funny how it can be the little touches in a man's wardrobe that really make the outfit. Guys don't really spend a lot of time accessorizing so just a small touch can really set your look apart. One of my favorites is a titanium ring you can get a cool one for as little as $20. I promise if you pick one of these up it will last forever and complement anything in your closet. You'll get a lot of comments from people at work or when you're out having fun. Another thing that I really think is important is a good watch. Not a digital watch but an old-fashioned one that shows the inner workings of the watch. It's really easy to find one that you love that also goes with your whole wardrobe. If you make these two small investments I promise that the first time you wear them it will feel like you have a whole new outfit!

I Have With Me My Dream Bag

posted on 6 November 2011

I always wondered if I could own a bag that I really love. During my time at school, I still had not found such a bag, and I'd bought all kinds - from pink clutch bags to big shoulder bags. Fortunately, when I graduated from school I received a gift from my aunt. I didn't expect it would be a bag, as I'd owned so many by that point! Surprisingly, when I open the gift wrapper I saw a beautiful bag, colored black. Its not really as beautiful and as expensive compared to any branded bag, but I really love the thing. Mostly whenever I travel to places some things may be left behind but my bag never is. I take it wherever I go and it always completes my look, and many people ask me where I got it from - I can't tell them since it was a gift.

Retro Shoes Never Go Out of Style

posted on 3 August 2011

My favorite shoes are a pair of chunky retro heels. The toe box is square shaped and made from a leather-looking white material with a tiny white bow for an accent. It leaves most of the top of my feet uncovered with a white strap around the ankle. The heel is a nice chunky square about an inch and a half tall, and not those stupid tiny heels the size of a fingernail and three inches tall. I think the retro style shoes are classier than some of the “hooker” pumps that pass for appropriate these days. These shoes pretty much go with anything I own, and I love them so much that once the first pair wore out, I hunted down another pair in a thrift store. Then I found a third pair, but unfortunately they were too big so I passed them on my daughter. I’ve been diligently searching for another pair of these shoes, but since they are now more than 10 years out from the market I think I’m pretty much out of luck. It’s really hard to find shoes with square toe boxes, so I try to snatch them up whenever I find a pair.

Freshwater Pearl

posted on 17 June 2011

The freshwater pearl is one of the most commonly used items for woman's jewelry. The pearl has been a sign of elegance and sophistication for many years. Pearls can be used to make a variety of different piece of jewelry including earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Over the years pearl jewelry has gone from single strands and stud earrings to elaborate pieces. Pearls are the perfect accessory that will take a woman from office to dinner to a night out on the town. Fresh water pearls come from freshwater mussels. They are found almost exclusively in China but can occasionally be found in the United States or Japan. Freshwater pearls can be found in a variety of colors including black, white, grey and pink. Once removed from the mussel the pearls are dried and bleached which prepares them for use in jewelry and other products. Pearls can range in price depending on the rarity of the particular type and color of pearl.

Changes between the Old Classic Styles of Pearl Jewelry and Today's Modern Designs

posted on 5 June 2011

The types of pearls used in creating pearl jewelry can come in a number of different shades as well as different shapes. There are the classic round stones as well as pearls that have a rectangular shape with smooth uneven edges. In the past the classic round pearl was usually ranked in quality by how evenly formed the stone was. Today there are many pieces of pearl jewelry that use the uneven rectangular pearls in creating the finished piece. These are often found in earrings and bracelets and can come in a variety of shades. Another new twist used in making today's pearl jewelry is the addition of other gemstones. In years past the pearl was often the only item used in creating a piece because it was considered to be very pure and elegant all by itself. Today it is often paired with diamonds or crystals to add accent and interest to the design.

The Runaway Bride and How Not To Begin Married Life

posted on 13 May 2011

I was 21years old was in my final year of nursing school in St. Louis with six months until graduation. I had been dating my boyfriend since my senior year in high school (about three years). I was a 'good Christian girl' who had promised to wait until I was married to have sex my sweetie was okay with this although it was very difficult for the both of us. Following a great time at my sister's Polish wedding, the temptation was just too great and we had sex in the back seat of our oldsmobile. I cried for days and days I could hardly concentrate on my studies before I knew it 2 months had gone by and no menstrual peeriod! The rules at my nursing school was you could not be married let alone be pregnant. My friend at school tried to convince me to have an abortion three other classmates had already done that. However, there just was no way I could abort this baby. On a Saturday morning in July we drove across the state line in Missouri and found a Justice of the Peace in a little town in Illinois. It was dreary setting the JP was an old man and his wife who was to be my witnees was old also. No bridal tiaras, no cake, no church organ. I cannot even remember any of the marriage vows that we spoke I could hardly wait to get out of there. When we got back to St, Louis he went to his home and I went back to my dormitory. Three weeks later we told our parents. They were all very sad that we had not shared our problem with them. I also had to leave school. In October we had a beautiful baby boy who weighed 10 pounds!

Dresses: Simple, Classic, Yet Always Fashionable

posted on 13 April 2011

Being a fashion merchandising major in college, fashion and clothing is something that I love very much. From oscar boots to leggings, fashion is my great love. My favorite fashion items, however, are dresses. I love dresses of all kinds and colors! This is because they are very classic, and come in all kinds of varieties. There are short and colorful dresses for summer, and long sleeved, warmer sweater dresses for winter. I also love dresses because they are so versatile. You can wear them by themselves, or with leggings, boots, and a sweater in cooler weather. You can also dress them up or dress them down. I have many dresses that I wear with a simple pair of tennis shoes or flats. Being a parent of a newborn, and a full time student, I particularly love dresses because they are so simple to just put on and go. If I could only wear one article of clothing for the rest of my life, I would probably wear a different dress every day!

How Fashion Accessories Enhances Your Looks

posted on 6 April 2011

Everybody wears accessories regardless if they are male or female. Accessories are important because they complete the look of your fashion ensemble. Think of how a businessman would look like without a tie or an expensive wristwatch. These accessories may be so simple but they can sum up the corporate look the businessman is trying to project. With women, stepping out of the house with out wearing at least a single piece of jewelry is down playing the way they look. A dress, no matter how well designed it may be isn’t as awesome with out its matching fashion accessories. On the other hand, a very simple cut dress paired with a bib necklace becomes instantly fabulous! It may seem ironic how an accessory can influence the totality of your looks. These accessories can draw attention away from the flaws of your dress and your body. But if you know how to mix and match your accessories with different sets of clothing you can create a variety of fashion styles each and every time you wear them.
