Self employment has helped me since the economic recession.

When I was staring up my business, I had just lost my job in a steel producing company. There was a massive lay off of employees after the economic recession and I was not spared. After three months of relying on unemployment benefits from the government, I could not take it any more. There was barely enough in my house I had to do something, so using the few savings I had, I started a very small fast food joint in my home town. It did not pick well at first until people realized how good I made my food. That was when I started making at least enough for my family's needs. When the government started issuing a grant for business expansion for each small scale business owner in the country, I was one of the beneficiaries I expanded my business and my wife had to come to the business to help. So far I have three more employees and I am doing very well. I never seek for employment any more because self employment has turned out to be the best for me.
