The Right Way to Hang Kitchen Island Pendant Lighting

Pendant lights are ideal fixtures to hang over a kitchen island if you want to illuminate this particular area of the kitchen. Pendant lights come in a variety of designs to suit the motif of your kitchen. They are sometimes designed as a single pendant light or a group of little bulbs clustered together to create a dramatic look. These kinds of lights are often open at the bottom so it would be easy to change the bulbs when needed.

As a basic rule, kitchen island pendant lighting should be hung a good 35 or 40 inches above the kitchen counter measuring that space from the tip of the bulb to the countertop. If the members of the family are tall, these lights should be hung higher than the standard height. These lights are usually hung with a single chord or chain attached to the ceiling with the aid of a track or a fixture box. Pendant lights add an interesting and practical feature to the kitchen especially if it hangs in the center of the room right above an island.
